Volcano experiment



Volcano
You will need:
Salt clay (recipe below)
Bottle cap
Baking powder
Red food coloring
vinegar

What to do:

Make a volcano shape from salt dough.
Place a bottle cap in the top of your volcano.
Fill the bottle cap with baking powder.
Add a few drops of red food coloring to a small amount of vinegar.
With a drinking straw, drip about a teaspoon of the red vinegar onto the baking powder.
The red lava will foam down the sides of the bottle cap volcano.

Salt Clay
You will need:
1 cup flour
3/4 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cooking oil
Food coloring
What to do:
Place the flour, salt and oil in a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon.
Combine water and food coloring then gradually add the colored water to the flour mixture.
When you have created things with the clay, you can bake them to harden the clay. Put the oven on low heat (300ºF/150ºC) and bake for 1-2 hours.
