Math Challenge March 6

The contractors at the Vatican Museum have been investigating the cost of placing a clear laminate over the perimeter of the Sistine Chapel. The Sistine Chapel is 134 meters long and 44 meters wide. It costs 6 dollars a meter to laminate. How much will it cost to laminate the perimeter?

Bonus Math Challenge

1. Grab a calculator (you won’t be able to do this one in your head).
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

The mushers have been preparing for a long time for this race. Now is the time that all their hard work is being put to the test.
Think of something that you worked at (practiced) for a long time, or an event that you had to wait for. Write about your experience. Be sure to write about how it felt. Tell what happened on the day of the event.

Math Challenge March 5

You watch as mushers cross the finish line of the Iditarod. Collecting some data, you note that 8 teams had 9 dogs, 3 teams had 12 dogs, 5 teams had 10 dogs, and 4 teams had 11 dogs.
